About Me
For over 20 years Christopher has pursued photography as a hobby. A fully manual camera from his grandmother allowed him to begin to explore photography. Later, Christopher attended a community college class, his only formal photography training. This class gave him the basic understanding of how the camera works. The combination of the camera and the class has enabled Christopher to learn a lot on his own through experimentation. In graduate school he learned to develop black and white film for use in scientific research, which stimulated him to pursue his hobby further.
Today Christopher uses a Canon digital SLR. Although the digital technology has changed many aspects of photography, the vision, composition and mechanics of the fully manual camera still apply. All of his prints are made on an Epson R2400 printer, using pigment inks that are fade resistant for up to 200 years.
Christopher grew up in Hatboro, graduating from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 1986. His undergraduate degree is from Westminster College in 1990. He earned a PhD in Neuroscience from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio in 1997. He performed postdoctoral research at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee on Huntington’s disease. Currently, he is a professor of biology at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio where he resides.
